We are having success and small miracles every day.
We don’t yet know the exact opening day for Sunbeam. When we complete the necessary work in first group room, the Health Board and Fire Inspector will give their approval. Then the license for service will be issued by the local government. They can review documents for up to 20 workdays.
If all goes well, we will interview the counselor candidates in the last week of November or beginning of December. In December, we will meet with the families and get specific information about the children. Then we can make final adjustments to the group room according to the needs of the children. We will go with counselors to another child care center for practical training in December. Right now, it looks like we’ll start the program in January.
Last week I was in Tallinn, for a project managers information day. I got tips about reporting and invoicing. I also met representative of the Estonian Council of Churches. We signed contract with them. [The Council of Churches is one of the co-sponsors of Sunbeam’s recent grant.]
This week, on Friday, I will meet with project partners from local governments (social workers). We will discuss exchange of information, meetings with families, preparing documents, etc. There will be a national seminar for social workers in the beginning of December (I’ve been working on that), and it will take place at Sunbeam.
Andres [Sunbeam board member and architect) met with the workmen, who will install alarm system and electrical system, hopefully work will start this week. The floors are being installed (see pictures). The installation of bath fittings starts this week as well. Once the floor is installed, we can start with furniture. We’ll also build an access ramp this week.
The organization of work has taken its time, we hope that now things will go smoothly.
