This spring has flown by. We celebrated several children’s birthdays and in March we had trips to a farm and to a playground at Toila Spa.
On 1 June we celebrated our first year of work with children in Sunbeam.
In April, the first large grant for child care service came to an end. There was lots of paperwork for the final report.
Summer months are a transitional period. We have finalized arrangements and agreements for further funding thru local governments. Seven children continue to use our service. Support from local the government increases step by step, however it does not cover all expenses the next few months. So our summer budget is minimal.
We are pleased that we are partners starting on September fifth with the Tartu University Hospital Children’s Foundation. Their main campaign in 2014 is to support child care service for children with disabilities as well as giving parents support and rest time. The fund finances one child at 1500 euro for the year.
The Fund will also organize concerts in July, the proceeds going to support Sunbeam for providing child care service.
The Sunbeam staff also participates in a mentoring program, the working group includes representatives of the Ministry of Social Affairs. The meetings with mentors and partners (eight workgroup meetings in Tallinn and two seminars) address the development of our service to children.
We are building a model of service that could be a future common model for other similar organizations around Estonia.
Next year most of our child care service will be supported by the state.
So, we are in the middle of interesting developments.
We are getting ready to host friends from the United States in July. Together, we are organizing staff training at Sunbeam, field trips, and for the first time we will have a camp for children and parents at Camp Gideon.
Have a beautiful summer for everyone 🙂
